Characteristics of the educational program: Educational and professional training program is based on the known positions and results of modern scientific research in engineering geodesy, cartography, land and realty rating, GIS, photogrammetry and remote sensing, satellite geodesy, and oriented to the future professional and scientific carrier. Program objective is to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills, sufficient to successfully perform their professional duties specialty 193 Geodesy and Land management, educational program Space geodesy and prepare students for future employment in the chosen specialty. Provide the knowledge for the professional activities with the possible continuation of the study to get higher level of the qualification skill. The training process is organized in the form of lectures, laboratory and practical training, coursework, research work, self-work and implementation of master's thesis. Modern laboratories will be used for the proper formation of the educational process at the departments of the Institute of Geodesy. An obligatory practice should be done in the frame of master’s degree qualification project, according to the specialization, and all students should complete both: practical and theoretical research. The total amount of educational and professional program - 90 ECTS credits, including general training cycle: - 6 cr., the cycle of professional training - 84 cr.
Gained competence: - determination of the spatial position of points using satellite navigation systems; - representation of geodetic measurements obtained in different coordinate systems; - knowledge of the GPS structure and functioning, GPS observation techniques, transforming of the points coordinate; - the ability to demonstrate deep knowledge and skills in conducting experiments, data collection, modelling and analysis of the results, to think systematically and apply creative skills to the formation of fundamentally new ideas in geodesy and land management; - plan and complete research, use the resulting competencies to prepare and implement a research plan under the established time frame; - ability to demonstrate knowledge of professionally-oriented disciplines of the speciality; - ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of design methodologies, relevant regulations, applicable standards and specifications; - ability to demonstrate knowledge of the current state of affairs and the latest technologies in the field of geodesy and land management; - ability to demonstrate knowledge of the basics of economics and project management; - to formulate and improve a vital research task, to solve it to collect the necessary information and to formulate conclusions that can be defended in a scientific context; - scientifically use information resources, using high standards of text analysis; - use the tools of other humanities, natural sciences and exact sciences if necessary to solve the research problem; - work effectively in groups to localize, obtain and process data to solve the research problem; - understanding the impact of technological advances in social, economic, social and environmental aspects.
- formulation of goals and tasks to determine the spatial position of points; - development of terms of reference for the development of GNSS systems; - the creation of the required data model; - development of specifications for information; - conduct a conversation and discussion in Ukrainian and one of the foreign languages; - apply knowledge of technical characteristics, design features, purpose and rules for the operation of equipment and facilities to solve technical problems in geodesy and land management; - integrate knowledge and understanding to identify, formulate and solve professional problems using known methods; - systematically think and apply creative abilities to the formation of fundamentally new ideas; - search and analysis of information from various sources and conducting research work; - perform appropriate experimental research using research skills on professional topics; - work effectively both individually and as a team; - combine theory and practice, as well as make decisions and develop strategies for solving problems of speciality, taking into account universal values, social, state and industrial interests; - evaluate the obtained results and argumentatively defend the decisions; - identify, classify and describe the technology of work in the area; - to carry out mathematical and statistical processing of results of scientific and applied activity; - critically evaluate the results of scientific and applied activities.

Work placement(s): An important aspect of master’s training of Geodesy and Land Management is the practice by the topic of master's thesis, which takes place in the laboratory of the Institute of Geodesy, surveing companies and departmental offices of engineering profile

Occupational profiles of graduates: Performance of atmospheric research; study of the Earth's gravitational field and its variations over time; definition and modeling of geodynamic phenomena; determination of topographic surface of the World Ocean; implementation of modern GIS technology based on studies of remote sensing; creating systems of geodetic and geotechnical environment monitoring.

Other program features: Some semantic modules can be taught in English; it is possible academic mobility and students exchange in the framework of international projects/grants, on the base of bilateral agreements between Lviv Polytechnic National University and educational Institutions of partner countries; there are opportunity to study abroad for the preparation of master's thesis (double Master degree).
