Abstract: Road safety and the efficiency of road transport largely depend on the quality of traffic management, which includes the management of traffic and pedestrian flows. The lack of understanding of the nature of these flows limits the ability to plan rational measures aimed at optimizing traffic management and its operational correction in accordance with changing conditions. 7 In large cities, this problem becomes especially acute. The situation is complicated by such trends as the growth of population mobility, the reduction of public transport use in favor of personal transport, as well as the increase in the gap between the number of cars and the length of the street and road network, which is not adapted to modern transport loads. To find effective solutions in the field of traffic management in megacities, the design of the street and road network and the organization of traffic, it is necessary to take into account a wide range of traffic characteristics. It is also important to study the patterns of influence of external and internal factors on the dynamics of mixed traffic flows. The application of modern management methods and the creation of an adequate model of traffic flows is an important task for improving the organization and regulation of traffic. The development of engineering solutions to optimize road traffic is possible only if there is data on the characteristics of transport and pedestrian flows, as well as on the conditions under which this movement occurs. Based on the study of road traffic and the practical aspects of its organization, numerous indicators and criteria have been identified for its description. However, it is still difficult to find a single set of characteristics that fully covers all aspects. In addition, due to the large number of theoretical and experimental studies, new indicators are constantly proposed for generating data on individual aspects of road traffic. When analyzing road traffic indicators, it is important to distinguish those that are basic. Primary indicators include those determined by the needs for transporting goods, passengers and the formation of pedestrian flows. Among such indicators are the total intensity of vehicle and pedestrian traffic over a long period of time, as well as the composition of the traffic flow. Other indicators should be considered as derived, since their values are largely determined by the basic parameters and conditions under which road traffic is carried out. The following indicators are most often used for road traffic characteristics: traffic intensity, traffic flow composition, flow density, speed and duration of delays. 8 Traffic intensity is the number of vehicles passing through a certain intersection of the road during a set time period. Different time periods can be used for its calculation: from a year or a month to shorter intervals, for example, hours, minutes or even seconds. Specific and given values of traffic intensity are distinguished. The object of the study is an intersection in the central part of Lviv. The subject of the study is the implementation of a design scheme for organizing traffic in this area of the city. The purpose of the master’s qualification work is to analyze and compare traffic conditions, as well as to substantiate the feasibility of implementing a traffic management design scheme using the PTV VISSIM software package. As a result of the research, the optimal parameters of traffic management were determined. Keywords: traffic organization, traffic management. References. 1. Vikovych I.A.
